I was very happy with this piece. The design in the background tied the composition together, and I liked the watercolor technique I used on the mouth. I used sharpie, pencil, and watercolor to make it. This is about how confusing words can be, almost like a maze. In comparison to the other pages, the message is obvious, and the execution is what I envisioned. I used my knowledge of repeated patterns from a previous sketchbook, and used it here to create cleaner and more interesting lines. I wanted to keep the mouth the focus point so I kept the colors mild elsewhere. I believe others will like this piece because of the modern feel it has. |

I choose to highlight this page because it is more like the pages I did last year. I heavily used thin pen and watercolor to mix the shades and values. It is messier than the work I have been doing this year. Like last year, I encorporated written words into my pieces. I had recently missed doing it so I tried it again with this piece. I like the flow of the page. In relation to the first marking period, I don't think I have improved. It is just trying different techniques and subject matter that is different. |
